This café leans into a casual, friendly vibe with a focus on quality coffee and light bites that suit both locals and visitors seeking a laid-back break.

The atmosphere here comes through as calm yet vibrant, with natural light filtering into a comfortably refurbished space. Seating options include a small outdoor terrace perfect for warmer days, and an upstairs area with large windows overlooking the greenery of Bushy Park. This view sets a quietly scenic backdrop whether you're catching up on reading, meeting friends, or simply enjoying some downtime.

Visitors often arrive mid-morning or early afternoon to enjoy coffee alongside a variety of fresh pastries and sandwiches. The menu is thoughtfully varied, covering options like croissants, chicken and chorizo quiche, and plant-based vegan rolls, catering to different dietary preferences including gluten-free savoury choices. Drinks tend to draw positive remarks, especially the soy latte and hot chocolate, while house specialties like the red velvet cheesecake or banana and orange juice offer an interesting sweet balance.

The café’s welcoming approach extends to dog owners, making it a more social and lively spot when pups are around. Staff are consistently noted for their friendly service, a small but significant aspect that adds to the comfort of the place.

Lion Gate Café works well as a casual meet-up point or a quiet solo retreat, particularly on sunny days when the balcony seating fills up. Fabulous position right by Bushy Park with stunning views of the park, one way, and the wrought iron gates of Hampton Court, the other. Beautifully refurbished with a small balcony on those rare, sunny days! Only reason my cost varys from other reviews is because I had a couple of coffees. :)

Great cafe, decor is lovely as are the staff. It has a nice view of Bushy park from the top floor as well as a small outdoor terrace for the warmer months. I highly recommend their caprese ciabatta which comes with homemade pesto. It is on the more expensive side but that probably reflects the area it’s in.

Beautiful little cafe. It has a vibrant vibe. The best thing about this cafe is that they allow dogs there. Which makes this place more happening and happier. Hot chocolate - 5 Star Pain au chocolate - 4 Star Red valvet cheese cake - must try Egg mayo Croissant - 5 Star It is near to the Hampton Court Palace and easy accessable. I would recommend to go there once you will like it.

This cafe is really beautiful. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. There is a good view of the park on the second floor. I had the chorizo quiche, which was large and was served with a side of salad.

Unfortunately no gluten free savoury items for lunch so had a banana and Kettle crisps. Gluten free cake available. My family members enjoyed toasted paninis and cheesecake. Dog friendly with dog ice cream available. Lovely relaxing place for lunch. Staff helpful.

A lovely spot for coffee and light bites. I visit each time I'm visiting the area. Most places offer to warm up toasties/paninis for you - these guys warmed up the Danish pastry for me. A nice touch and I thoroughly enjoyed my coffee treat. Will be back soon.

Lovely spot for coffee or a meal. We had lunch and the food was delicious. The coffee was also good. It's difficult to get a good Soya latte in London. Near impossible, actually, but this was really good. There is a lovely view across the park from upstairs, and as it was a sunny day, it was even better. There is a good space downstairs, perfect for a function. Remember to scrub your boots on the way in.
